The former Saudi Arabia oil minister, Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani has passed away at the age of 90 in London, foreign media reported on Tuesday.
According to the details, Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani will be buried in the city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia.
He gained notoriety in 1973 with sanctions for rising oil prices, foreign media reported.
Sheikh Yamani was the Saudi oil minister from 1962 to 1986. He was one the most powerful person in the Kingdom who had some of the world’s largest oil reserves. He was also a dominant official of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries for 25 years.
He was also an eyewitness to the assassination of Saudi King Faisal.
