Four people were injured and a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle was damaged in a remote-controlled blast in the Hazar Ganji area on the outskirts of Quetta.

A spokesman for the Balochistan Baloch Anti-Terrorism Department said in a statement that a remote-controlled bomb exploded outside the main gate of the vegetable market at 7.40 am.

The blast injured four passers-by and caused minor damage to the FC vehicle, he said.

He said about a kilogram of explosives was used in the blast while CTD teams were collecting evidence from the scene.

The blast also shattered the windows of nearby buildings, while security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.

Rescue workers shifted the injured to Bolan Medical Complex and the condition of the two injured is critical, according to the hospital administration.

Condemning the incident, Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani said an emergency had been declared in hospitals to provide the best medical care to the injured.

“Those responsible for the incident will be arrested and brought to justice,” he said.

It may be recalled that on July 1, six security personnel were injured in a motorcycle blast on Airport Road in Quetta.

The bomber struck shortly afternoon in front of a police convoy.

Balochistan Inspector General (IG) Muhammad Tahir Rai had said that the remote control bomb was planted in a motorcycle.
