Pakistani Television has been airing shows that address critical social concerns and depict some concealed cruel realities. With the number of offensive cases on the rise, it is becoming increasingly necessary to pay heed to how a message is communicated in the serials to the audience. Keeping this vital point in mind, the writer Amna Mufti and director Kashif Nisar did an amazing job presenting Dil Na Umeed Tou Nahi starring Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali. Focused on the horrific crime of human trafficking and surfacing issues like female’s education, dowry, and child labor, the serial covers many angles.

The portrayal of something so delicate is not an easy task; even the slightest misstep might cause a backlash. But Yumna Zaidi did justice to the character, Sumbul, by doing a flawless job this time again. Her character was continuously acclaimed for a variety of reasons from the first episode to the concluding episode as everything was executed brilliantly within the constraints.

The Inkaar actress had earlier been hailed for her acting in Pyar Ke Sadqay, she exceeded our expectations by her performance that we couldn’t resist making the hashtag Yumna Zaidi trending on Twitter soon after the final episode of the serial.

She portrayed a victim of a criminal offence. It’s incredible to see a bashful girl effortlessly portraying strong personalities. Zaidi has made interesting and diverse choices with her roles. Mushk in Raaz-e-Ulfat, a simple and quiet girl from a conservative family, Sila in Dar Si Jati Hai Sila, a scared young adult who is sexually harassed by one of the elders in the family, and now the character Allah Rakhi (Sumbul) in Dil Na Umeed Tou Nahi, a resilient girl who try to fly out of the cage that she has been trapped inside of, was being essayed beautifully by her. We anticipate her to feature in future TV serials with more powerful characters, as it counts a lot when influential individuals like her decide to support justice and raise awareness about topics that are often overlooked.
