Pakistan contemplates vaccinating citizens under 18

The government is pondering inoculating teenagers under 18 years of age, sources have claimed, as it aims to inoculate 70% of the population by year’s end.

Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination said the National Institute of Health, Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, and other institutions were considering the matter, claimed sources.

The institutions are anticipated to come up with an attempt in this regard by the end of this week, the sources stated.

In the first phase, adolescents from 15-18 years will be vaccinated, while in the second phase, teenagers from 12-15 years will get the shot.

Whereas Pakistan has obtained the Pfizer and Moderna coronavirus vaccines through COVAX, which have been authorized in numerous countries for vaccinating children under 18 years of age.

Pakistan has managed inoculations to more than 29 million people six million totally inoculated and nearly 23.3 million people moderately vaccinated.
