In the last 24 hours, the widespread Coronavirus pandemic has claimed more than sixty lives and 5,026 new positive cases were reported in Pakistan.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 56,965 tests have been conducted and the Coronavirus positivity ratio remained 8.82% across the country.

On Saturday, 23 more front-line health workers tested positive with COVID-19 in the country.

In the said period eight doctors, fifteen doctors, five nurses and three other healthcare staff were infected with coronavirus, the sources said.

As many as 17,033 healthcare professionals have got infected while battling the COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan, sources said.

Sindh Lockdown Imposed Lockdown Till August 8

Sindh Home Department has issued notification of COVID -19 lockdown restrictions in the province.

According to the notification, partial lockdown will be enforced in Sindh from today and citizens will be banned from leaving their homes unnecessarily.

The notification said that grocery, bakery, vegetable and meat shops will be open till 6 pm.

According to the notification, buses are not permitted to run, only rickshaw taxis will run while only home delivery will be allowed from restaurants.

The notification said that all the examinations have been postponed till August 8 and all the universities have been closed till August 8.

In addition, educational, commercial, religious, recreational and sports activities will be completely banned, while funeral prayers and other religious rites will be performed with the knowledge of the SHO.

It may be recalled that the Sindh government has decided to impose a lockdown across the province from July 31 to August 8 in view of the deteriorating situation in Coronavirus.

On the other hand, Chairman NCOC Asad Umar had said that the country, for the first time, administered more than 9 lakh Covid-19 vaccine jabs in a single day on July 31.

Asad Umar said on Twitter, “Vaccination records continue to be set daily. 5th straight day record vaccinations carried out. Yesterday the vaccination number crossed 9 lakh for the first time. 2,600 vaccination centres & 2,979 mobile units operating across Pakistan, to make this massive campaign possible.”
