Facebook Marketplace Opens New Avenue for Pakistanis
After Amazon, Facebook has now created opportunities for Pakistanis running online businesses...
Russia filed administrative proceedings against Facebook’s Whatsapp for failing to localize data of Russian users on Russian territory, the Interfax news agency reported.
However, Facebook did not respond immediately.
A Russian court had penalized Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., 3 million roubles for violating personal data legislation the day before, and had opened administrative proceedings against Facebook and Twitter for the same offense.
The lawsuits are part of a larger battle between Russia and the Big Internet, with Moscow fining social media behemoths for failing to delete banned information and attempting to compel international tech companies to create offices in Russia.
Interfax said, citing court documents, that WhatsApp might be fined between 1 million and 6 million roubles ($13,700 to $82,250). The court’s hearing date is yet to be announced.
