Israel Bombs Targets In Southern Lebanon: Israeli Military

The Israeli military said in a statement on Friday that it had bombed targets in southern Lebanon adding that the operation was in response to rockets fired from the area by the Lebanese militia Hezbollah.

A statement from the Israeli military said that after 15 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon, alarm sirens were sounded in the Golan Heights and in several villages in the upper Israeli town of Al-Jil. Most of the rockets fired were destroyed in mid-air. The rockets were fired at a military base in Duff. However, no one was injured or killed.

The Israeli military says it will respond to any attack. Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Minister has started security consultations regarding this aggression.

Hezbollah militia, on the other hand, has admitted firing rockets at Israel. A statement issued by the militia said the rocket fire was in response to Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon.

According to Lebanese media, locals are fleeing some Lebanese border villages after rockets were fired at Israel.

The Lebanese National News Agency has confirmed that the rockets were fired at Israel from the heights of Jabal al-Sheikh. Israeli planes are currently flying over Hasabia and Arqub. In addition, Israel’s Iron Dome defence system fired 10 of the rockets fired by Hezbollah.

It should be noted that the Israeli army had announced on Thursday morning that its fighter jets had targeted the areas inside the Lebanese territory from where rocket grenades are fired towards Israel. The infrastructure used for terrorist activities was also attacked.

The Lebanese presidency, meanwhile, commented on the Israeli bombing in a statement on Thursday.

The statement called Wednesday night’s attack on Lebanese villages a serious violation of Security Council resolutions. According to the statement, it has become necessary to lodge a complaint with the United Nations in this regard in order to stop the continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

This is the first time in many years that Israel has targeted areas inside Lebanon. According to Israeli military sources, the latest operation targeted Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon. As a result, the militia suffered heavy material losses.
