In the wake of increasing coronavirus cases across the country, the National Command and Operation Centre on Saturday announced to impose new restrictions in 24 districts of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
According to a letter issued by NCOC, the nonpharmaceutical interventions will remain enforced from September 4 to September 12.
In Punjab, these districts include; Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakar, Khanewal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. In K-P, Peshawar, Swabi, Malakand, Swat, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra and D I Khan are included.
All federating units were asked to institute robust mechanism for the implementation of special NPIs.
In light of recommendations from NCOC, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa banned inter-district transport service in the eight high-risk districts of the province.
A day earlier, Federal capital and Punjab government announced to close schools till September 11.
Apart from schools, inter-city transport, indoor gyms and all kinds of gatherings have been banned in the federal capital.
COVID tally
As many as 79 more deaths due to coronavirus infection and 3,980 positive cases were reported in the country during the last 24 hours.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre statistics, 64,053 tests were conducted and positivity ratio remained 6.21 per cent.
