LAHORE: Punjab chief secretary Kamran Ali Afzal has directed all the deputy commissioners to launch crackdown against fertiliser hoarders.
Chairing a video-link meeting of all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners, he directed them to take action against profiteers and hoarders of fertilisers on the pattern of measures taken during the sugar crisis.
Afzal also directed ensuring display of prices of fertilisers at prominent place in retail outlets. An artificial urea shortage is being created through hoarding, he said, adding that those making easy money by creating an artificial shortage of fertilisers would be dealt with iron hands.
The dealers involved in hoarding and profiteering would be blacklisted, the Punjab chief secretary said, adding that the availability of urea fertiliser would be ensured for the wheat crop.
