Renowned author Sara Suleri Goodyear died at 68

Sara Suleri Goodyear, an author and lecturer, died on Monday in Bellingham, Washington, at the age of 68.

Sara was the daughter of notable journalist Ziauddin Ahmad Suleri, better known as ZA Suleri, and Welsh English professor Mair Jones, and was born in Karachi in 1953.

Austin Goodyear, the author’s husband, died before her. Her younger siblings, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their offspring, survive her.

Sara graduated from Kinnaird College in Lahore, where she completed her secondary education. Punjab University awarded her a Master’s degree in English Literature after that.

She went on to earn her PhD in English and began teaching at a community college. She then became a professor at Yale University.

Sara was well-known for her memoir ‘Meatless Days,’ in which she distilled her memories from days in Lahore. She was also a founding editor of the Yale Journal of Criticism.

She also penned ‘The Rhetoric of English India,’ which was based on her father’s journalistic career, and ‘Boys Will Be Boys,’ which was also based on her father’s journalistic career.

Sara Suleri Goodyear funeral will take place at a later date.
