Senior royals compares Meghan Markle to Wallis Simpson, reports

Meghan Markle is purportedly seen by senior members of the British royal family as a modern-day counterpart of Wallis Simpson, the American socialite for whom previous King-Emperor Edward VIII abdicated his throne.

According to royal biographer Christopher Andersen’s book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, Prince Philip was left spitting blood’ after learning of Harry’s plan to resign as a prince and move away.

That’s not all; Philip reportedly told one of his closest staff, “It appears as if we were wrong about her all along.”

Senior royals have referred to Meghan as a 21st-century Wallis Simpson since Megxit, comparing Harry and Meghan’s relationship to that of Wallis and the Duke of Windsor.

After giving up the title of King to his younger brother, Queen Elizabeth’s father, Wallis and Edward VIII married in 1937.

The pair, like Harry and Meghan, relocated to the United States and stepped away from royal responsibilities.
