A popular Massachusetts student is being honoured after she perished in a boating accident while on vacation with her family last week.
Cassidy Murray, a 13-year-old middle school student at Cambridge’s Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, died on Wednesday while on a vacation to Aruba, according to ABC station WCVB-TV.
“It is with sad hearts that we reveal the tragic death of our daughter, Cassidy,” her family said in a statement to the publication. “All who knew and loved Cassidy will miss her lovely soul, truly kind heart, bright mind, and happy passion for life.”
According to a dedication placed by a local eatery, the tragedy occurred on the family’s final day in Aruba.
There have been no more information revealed concerning the disaster.
School administrators also lamented the seventh grader’s loss.
“Classmates responded to her because of her real compassion and gentle modesty,” said head of school Jennifer Price in a statement, according to Boston 25 News.
“Her classmates recognised from the very first week of school that she would be a trusted, warm confidant with a tremendous sense of fun and camaraderie,” Pierce wrote of the new student.
Cassidy was recalled as someone who “took on new tasks with a feeling of excitement and delight.”
“We all keep the Murray family — Linda, David, and Adam — dear in our minds and hearts,” Price said, referring to her parents and her elder brother, a 10th-grade student at the school.
“This is a parent’s greatest fear,” Price told The Boston Globe in an interview. “It’s a sorrow that we have lost someone so exceptional.”
A neighbour who lives across the street from the Murrays told the newspaper that Cassidy had “an ear-to-ear smile.”
“She was an angel,” commented a neighbour.
