Shahid Kapoor’s starer Jersey is facing a plagiarism law suit

Jersey, a sports drama starring Shahid Kapoor, was planned to release on April 14th. However, the producers stated a week before the film’s release that it would be postponed. The reason for the delay has sparked a lot of speculation. However, a Jersey producer has claimed that a court case forced their hand and caused the film’s postponement.

Shahid, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapur appear in Jersey. The film follows a washed-up cricketer as he strives to reclaim his pride and self-worth by returning to the cricket pitch. The film had already been postponed due to rise in Omicorn cases in India.  However, according to the film’s producer Aman Gill, the recent delay was due to legal issues.

According to a story in Bar and Bench, writer Rajneesh Jaiswal filed a lawsuit against the film. With claims that the filmmakers plagiarised his script, The Wall. Rajneesh claimed that his script was registered with the Screenwriters Association in 2007. However Jersey were very similar, and that the film’s distribution would result in him losing a lot of money.

The film will now be released on April 22nd, following the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
