During a recent Vogue cover story, Rihanna revealed how she and A$AP Rocky evolved to be more than just pals. Earlier this year, the Anti singer and Rocky confirmed that they are expecting their first child.
Rihanna referred back to her 2012 VMAs performance of “Cockiness” to explain how the two first met.
“He grabbed my ass on stage,” she told the outlet. “That was not part of the rehearsal! I was like, What are you doing!?”
Despite being taken aback by the change, she recalls being unconcerned and letting it go, much to the astonishment of her management team.
Following that, the two stayed friends for the following decade.
“People don’t readily go out of the friend zone with me,” she said. “And it took me a bit to get over how well I knew him and how well he knows me, because we both know how much danger we can get ourselves into.”
Their bond became stronger once the COVID-19 epidemic began. The two planned a grandiose road trip from Los Angeles to New York aboard a large tour bus that would take them across the country. Rihanna remembers preparing hamburgers while Rocky dyed gas station t-shirts.
