A senior US defense official said that the US Department of Defense will teach Ukrainian troops on how to handle howitzer artillery weapons that have been supplied to Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this is according to The Hill.

“Within the next few days,” US forces will train Ukrainian military on howitzers outside the Ukraine. According to the article, the troops will then return to Ukraine to disseminate the information and teach their fellow soldiers.

The official told journalists, “We believe we’ll be able to start this training in the next few days.”

The lessons will most likely be conducted by American forces stationed on NATO’s eastern border, mainly in Poland and Romania.

Additional training sessions for other weaponry may be included in the current military help, according to the official.

The US has previously trained a number of Ukrainian soldiers in the use of switchblade drones, which can strike personnel and vehicles. Those troops had already been in the United States for military training and had returned to their homeland earlier this month.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine has received the majority of the armaments from the new $800 million package, including artillery systems, ammo, and armoured personnel carriers.
