Netflix has reportedly shelved Will Smith’s ‘Bright’ sequel following Oscars slapgate

Will Smith is now facing some serious penalties as a result of his stunning response to Chris Rock’s joke during the 2022 Academy Awards.

Netflix’s plans for a sequel to Smith’s 2017 film Bright have apparently been cancelled, according to reports on the internet.

According to Bloomberg, National Geographic has also postponed the production of Pole to Pole, a new non-fiction show featuring the King Richard actor. The show’s filming, which was supposed to start in three weeks, has been postponed until autumn 2022.

The actor’s contentious slap during the Academy Awards last month was supposedly unrelated to the decision to cancel the Bright sequel, according to the media site.

Meanwhile, according to the Hollywood Reporter, a different Netflix feature and Sony’s Bad Boys 4 starring Smith have been placed on hold.

Following the tragic occurrence, the actor from Pursuit of Happyness was barred from attending the Oscars for the next ten years. He does, however, get to keep the Best Actor award he received for his role in King Richard.
