Russia refuses to stop shelling on Easter, preventing the evacuation of Mariupol’s

The evacuation of refugees from Mariupol was thwarted when Russia failed to create a ceasefire on Sunday, April 24.

“We were unable to establish a humanitarian corridor. On April 24, President Zelensky spoke by phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan, emphasising the importance of evacuating residents from Mariupol, particularly the Azovstal steelworks, and exchanging stalled troops as soon as possible.

As a result of Russia’s assault, Mariupol is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world. The invaders bomb defenceless civilians and prevent supplies from being delivered.

According to the mayor of Mariupol, up to 20,000 citizens have killed in the city since the Russian assault began. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s Chief Directorate of Intelligence, 13 Russian mobile crematoriums operate in Mariupol to empty the streets of deceased people. The invaders attempt to locate and eliminate any potential witnesses to the atrocity.

Around 120,000 civilians are still trapped in Mariupol.

Residents of Mariupol are stripped of their Ukrainian passports and deported to Russia and the captured Donetsk and Luhansk provinces.

Mariupol is still being defended by Azov Regiment infantry, Ukrainian Marines, and motorized riflemen.
