In newly leaked footage from set of ‘Rust,’ Alec Baldwin aims a pistol at camera
More information about the horrific shooting event on the set of Alec Baldwin’s Rust is becoming available.
Baldwin rehearsed with a handgun on the sets of Rust before the gun went off in his hand, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, last October, according to new video released by a New Mexico county sheriff on Monday.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office revealed audio and video footage as part of the investigation into Hutchins’ death after the fake revolver Baldwin was carrying discharged a live cartridge, according to reports.
Sheriff Adan Mendoza announced in a statement that “today the sheriff’s office is disclosing all files linked with our current inquiry.”
According to the statement, “the files are all related to the Rust movie set investigation and include lapel/dash camera footage from deputies and detectives, incident reports, crime scene photos, examination reports, witness interviews, set video, and staff photos collected throughout the course of this investigation.”
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigative data and materials were made public after repeated requests from media outlets.
Baldwin is seen aiming the gun at the camera twice during a practise in footage taken before Hutchins’ death.
Baldwin, who also served as a producer on the picture, has stated that he did not pull the trigger and that the gun was not loaded.
The information was released a week after the film’s makers were fined the maximum sum of $136,793 by regulators for failing to follow safety requirements.
