Bulgaria will provide Ukraine with EUR 706,000 in humanitarian aid and EUR 181,000 in assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and his Bulgarian colleague Kiril Petkov met in Kyiv on Thursday to discuss help for Ukrainian refugees, Ukraine’s European orientation, and energy security, according to the official portal.
“Ukraine is grateful to Bulgaria for cooperating with the international community to support our country. We applaud the Bulgarian government’s decisions to send humanitarian supplies worth EUR 706,000 and provide EUR 181,000 in assistance to Ukrainian refugees “Shmyhal explained.
According to him, the shipment of defensive ammunition for Ukrainian forces, who are guarding not only Ukraine’s but also Europe’s borders, is particularly important. Bulgaria was also examined by both parties as a potential provider of military equipment repair services.
Both prime ministers discussed, among other things, Ukraine’s entry into the European Union. Ukraine had rapidly completed the questionnaire, according to Shmyhal, and was awaiting the European Commission’s conclusion and the EU Council’s decision to grant Ukraine the status of an EU membership candidate.
