Malaika Arora says to treat parenthood like a comma, not a full stop on Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day social media is flooded with messages to their mothers. Even our Bollywood celebs have turned to social media to express their gratitude to their mothers. Humans Of Bombay went to Instagram to share a video of Malaika Arora sharing her tale of being a mother and how she overcame obstacles such as parenthood to continue her job.

The video starts with a sweet photo of Malaika Arora holding her infant child Arhaan. There are two adorable photos of Malaika and Arhaan when they were younger, followed by a current photo of an older Arhaan with the evergreen Malaika.

Malaika shared her parenthood experience in the caption, revealing that when she was pregnant, many warned her that her career would be over. She wrote, “Back then, after marriage, you’d barely see an actress on screen. But being raised by women who advocated being independent, I knew motherhood just meant I was to essay one more role, the role of mom! I worked through my pregnancy—shuttling shows, & rehearsals. And when Arhaan was born, I promised to give him the world. I also promised myself—I won’t lose my identity in the process of being a mom. Ever since I’ve lived up to both the promises.”

She further added, “2 months after delivery, I performed at an award show. I was proud of myself because I also made it back home in time to tuck Arhaan in bed. Knowing that I could juggle motherhood & work empowered me. In fact, I said yes to Karan for Kaal Dhamaal a year after delivery!”
