According to authorities, a man was stabbed to death early Friday morning in New York City’s peaceful, celebrity-filled Greenwich Village district.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) reported Samer Abdalla, 28, was involved in a fight with a group of four Hispanic guys shortly before 1:30 a.m. near the junction of West 4 Street and 6 Avenue.

The victim, who resided in Brooklyn, was stabbed many times in the torso, according to police. The gang then fled the location before police arrived.

Abdalla was transported to a nearby hospital but was unable to be rescued. Investigators are now looking for the culprits, albeit no more exact descriptions of the four males have been offered.

According to police department data, there have been no further killings in the 6th Precinct this year. Meanwhile, as of May 8, there had been no shootings this year, compared to two gunshots recorded over the same time period in 2021, according to police. Rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, and grand larceny, on the other hand, have witnessed year-to-date increases.

According to Realtor.com, the typical house in Greenwich Village is listed for $1.3 million.

Rich inhabitants, movie stars, and other Hollywood A-listers have lived in the area, including Taylor Swift, Alec Baldwin, Seth Meyers, Hilary Swank, and notorious producer Harvey Weinstein and his then-wife, fashion designer Georgina Chapman.

According to the Post, Baldwin and his family have been known to rest their legs at a huge penthouse unit in the Village’s Devonshire House. He allegedly paid $11.7 million for the property on East 10th Street near University Place in 2011 but began quietly trying to sell it in January.

Swift spent $39,500 a month for a four-bedroom property on Greenwich Village’s Cornelia Street, only “steps” from the park, according to Curbed New York. Her stay in the carriage house was said to be brief, and the home was eventually sold for $11.5 million.

Weinstein and Chapman possessed a huge mansion on Bank Street at Waverly Place, directly across from the famed Waverly Inn. Following their bitter divorce amid extensive sex crimes allegations against Weinstein, he and Chapman sold the 5,000-square-foot apartment for $25.6 million in March 2018, according to Page Six.
