The court said that FIA has claimed that no FIR has been registered so far in this regard and the agency has been following the SOPs.

CJ Athar Minallah said that Sami Ibrahim sought bail in his petition that was granted to him.

“Sami Ibrahim can now file his own petition”, the court said.

Notably, FIA summoned the anchorperson in person on May 13 (Friday) at 11:00 a.m, under PECA’s Section 20, which criminalises defamation, according to the notification. The FIA notification stated that the journalist’s video “spread false and baseless claims against high government personnels.”
