‘I was terrified’ Amber Heard says Johnny Depp assaulted her on their honeymoon

Amber Heard claims that Johnny Depp beat her on their honeymoon, and that her ex-husband began hallucinating while testifying in their civil lawsuit toward the end of their marriage. While testifying in a defamation lawsuit Depp has brought against her, Heard, 36, painted a picture of Mr Depp as an abuser suffering from drug addiction, jealousy, and self-harm.

In retribution for a story in which she claimed she was the victim of domestic abuse, Depp is suing Heard for USD 50 million. He has flatly denied any wrongdoing. After a hiatus during which Depp repeated his side of the incident and Heard began part of her evidence, the high-profile case in Virginia has begun for a sixth week.

According to the BBC, Heard told jurors in court on Monday that she believed she would “die” if she remained married to Johnny Depp.

She said he abused her in their sleeping compartment on the Orient Express train in Asia after their February 2015 wedding, punching her and grabbing her by the neck.

“I was so scared that it was going to end really badly for me,” she said as per BBC. “I really didn’t want to leave him. I loved him so much.”

Continued, “He was squeezing my neck against the railway car for what felt like a very long time,” she said. Heard further said, “I remember being scared that he wouldn’t mean to do it.”

Meanwhile, Heard said that during their more frequent fights, Mr Depp would often self-harm, “In fights he often would cut his arms or hold his knife to his chest or draw blood, superficially at first,” she said. “He also put cigarettes out on himself.”

Heard’s defamation complaint stems from a Washington Post essay she published in 2018 in which she identified herself as a victim of abuse. The paper made no mention of Johnny Depp.
