The first congressional hearing on UFOs in 50 years will be held Tuesday by a House Intelligence subcommittee, as mounting evidence on the encounters raises more questions than answers.
“Aerial phenomena are numerous and inexplicable. We have no idea what they are, and they aren’t readily explained away as weather phenomena, balloons, or anything else. The hearing, according to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., “is quite a mystery.”
Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., who chairs the House Intelligence Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation Subcommittee, added, “We’re going to challenge them on some pretty important matters.”
In a statement announcing the hearing, Carson said it’s critical for the administration to “seriously evaluate and respond to any potential national security risks – especially those we do not fully understand.”
The hearing on “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena” (UAP), as the US government calls them, starts at 9 a.m. ET. It comes after years of mysterious sightings of flying objects, mostly by US military personnel, with no “discernable” propulsion systems and strange “movement patterns.”
