Britney Spears wrote a lengthy letter in which she discussed how her conservatorship caused her to question her faith in God and how she wants to tell her story to the world in the hopes that others will understand her pain.

On Instagram, the Toxic hitmaker said that no one should have to go through what she did, and she praised people for their bravery for going through similar situations and choosing to talk about it openly.

“I’ve been playing the field… the business…the industry my entire life… that was of my own making… was it in God’s hands or mine???” Spears wrote. Or was it because I was close to God and he directed me? God knows I haven’t been perfect, but I do know this… the consequences that were imposed on me for never committing a crime in my life caused me to doubt God!!!”

“It wasn’t just the torture; it was also the humiliation of it all… I’ve made it a point to document my experiences in a book I’m working on… It’s all written on pages that people will hold in their hands… and hopefully gain a better understanding… we all know that what we read isn’t the same as your spirit experiencing those circumstances, but I do believe that some people will be touched…”

“I will say that the extent of isolation I was in for 4 months bothered me the most,” she said of her traumatic conservatorship. I used to enjoy being alone, but it was entirely my choice!!! My decision to go deeper and listen to the whispers of the spirit… the type of isolation that was imposed on me was torture on all levels…”

The singer went on to say that, while she respects those who have gone through similar experiences and have chosen to talk about it publicly, she does not want to be questioned about her own, saying, “I don’t want to ever talk about it ever again… I feel like I’d be entertaining the very people who have hurt me…”

“My spirit is lighter, and I genuinely laugh and smile now, and my eyes are hungry for more every day,” Spears said. “I want to share my story for one reason and one reason only… to let people know they are not alone, and believe me, I KNOW if you’re going through something and feel so disconnected from everything.”
