Sri Lanka name preliminary squads for Australia series

Sri Lanka has announced their preliminary selections for the forthcoming Test and white-ball series against Australia, which begins on June 7 at home.

Three Twenty20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals, and two Test matches will be played in Sri Lanka.

Tests will be part of the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle, while ODIs will be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.

Australia has already chosen a full-strength squad for the tour, with Pat Cummins leading the Test team and Aaron Finch leading the white-ball sides.

To prepare for the upcoming series, the hosts have chosen a 24-member provisional Test squad and two 26-member preliminary ODI and T20I squads.

Dimuth Karunaratne will lead the Test team, while Dasun Shanaka will oversee the white-ball squads.

Both teams will be playing for WTC23 and CWCSL points during the Tests and ODIs, therefore the series will be significant.

The T20I series will also help both teams assess their lineups ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
