Twisted Metal, the live-action television series based on the renowned PlayStation auto chase/vehicle fight game genre, has attracted a slew of prominent celebrities, including Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz.
According to a press statement from Peacock, Neve Campbell has been cast as a recurrent guest star titled Raven. Campbell most recently starred in Scream 5 as Sidney Prescot, a character she initially played in the 1996 film Scream and has reprised in subsequent iterations of the franchise.
Kitao Saurai (Cobra Kai) has been added as an executive producer and will direct many episodes. Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Twisted Metal was originally optioned for cinema in 2012, but the project was shelved because the production team demanded a larger budget than the studio could provide (Collider).
The half-hour action comedy will follow Mackie’s character, John Doe, an amnesiac “who speaks as fast as he drives,” as he seeks to transport supplies to an isolated outpost through a post-apocalyptic wilderness. Quiet, a “trigger-happy car thief” portrayed by Beatriz, will assist Mackie.
Scavengers, crazed clowns, and the perils of the open road await the two. They will be hunted by Agent Stone (Thomas Hayden Church), a strange and brutal highway patrolman who takes the law into his own hands at every chance.
