Somali Foreign Minister Abdisaid Muse Ali was suspended by Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Roble on Tuesday for misuse of power.
According to a statement made by Roble in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, Ali had allowed a ship transporting illicit charcoal to sail from Somalia to Oman.
The prime minister, who also revoked the foreign minister’s letter, has ordered appropriate government agencies to examine the matter and submit it to the authorities for possible action.

In February 2012, the United Nations Security Council issued a worldwide ban on the sale of charcoal from Somalia in an effort to cut off funding for the terrorist group al-Shabaab.
