Former Australian quick Brett Lee has compared Umran Malik of India to renowned veteran Pakistani fast bowler Waqar Younis, claiming the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer reminds him of Waqar.

Umran, who has received widespread acclaim for his blistering pace and aggressive deliveries, was phenomenal for his team in the just concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, earning him the Emerging Player of the Year award.
Lee lavished admiration on the 22-year-old bowler, who took 22 wickets in 14 games for Hyderabad.

“I am a big fan [of Umran]. I think Umran has got a lot of pace to burn. He is a competitor, a top guy, who runs in like a lot of fast bowlers in the past. Waqar Younis is the person who comes to mind,” Brett Lee told ANI.
Umran was called up to the national T20I team for the home series against South Africa following a stellar season with Hyderabad in the IPL 2022.
The debutants Gujrat Titans won the IPL 2022 after defeating Rajhastan Royals by seven wickets.
