Raducanu ‘unaware’ that she will play at Wimbledon after injury

• Emma Raducanu has no clue if she will be fit for the U.S. Open.
• The 19-year-old suffered a ‘freak injury’ in her first match at the WTA 250 event in Nottingham.
• She quit with the score level at 4-3 in the initial set against Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic.

Raducanu arrived at the last 16 at Wimbledon in 2021 however will require a fast recuperation to contend at the current year’s competition.

“First game, outright oddity. I assume I pulled something. I’m not entirely certain what precisely occurred. I just fell off court,” Raducanu told British media.

Raducanu, who has been without a full-time mentor since April, shot to fame last September when, as a qualifier, she won the U.S. Open title, turning into Britain’s most memorable female Grand Slam champion since Virginia Wade in 1977.
