An unknowing adolescent does in the first trailer for Netflix’s new stop motion animated film Wendell & Wild, directed by Henry Sellick. It’s never a good idea to make bargains with demons from the underworld when they crop up offering to make deals, regardless of the circumstances.

Rather than releasing a new movie teaser or trailer during this year’s Netflix Geeked Week, the streaming service instead released a short clip introducing Kat Elliott (Lyric Ross), a 13-year old girl dealing with a load of guilt who makes a pact with demon brothers Wendell (Keegan-Michael Key) and Wild (Kevin Hart) (Jordan Peele).

Kat is seen sneaking into a classroom in search of what appears to be an average plush bear that has been possessed by… something, though it’s unclear what. As brief as the teaser is, it sets the creepy, whimsical tone that will shape Kat’s story as she summons them to the Land of the Living, and it confirms that Wendell & Wild will be a film that Coraline fans, in particular, will appreciate when it premieres in October.
