In a recent interview with the Today show, legendary actor Robert De Niro discusses the loss of actor Ray Liotta. De Niro has previously collaborated with Liotta on the 1990 mob drama picture Goodfellas. For those who are unaware, Liotta died in his sleep in May at the age of 67. His death came as a shock because he was working on a film in another country and was away from home at the time.

During the interview, De Niro was asked about his co-star Liotta’s death, to which he admitted that he hadn’t kept in touch with the actor after their brief engagement while filming the 1990 crime drama, and that he didn’t know him personally, but that he admired his work and enjoyed watching the late actor’s work. “He was a wonderful actor and I’m very sad. He was still young, as far as I’m concerned, ” ET reports.

Meanwhile, the legendary actor had previously made a statement to the site, stating, “I was very saddened to learn of Ray’s passing. He is way too young to have left us. May he Rest in Peace.”

Furthermore, Martin Scorsese, the director of Goodfellas, recently spoke out about Liotta’s tragic passing and expressed regret for not collaborating with him on another project. In a letter to The Guardian, the director stated, “We had many plans to work together again but the timing was always off, or the project wasn’t quite right. I regret that now.”
