Spain: A father thrown from cliff, after being attacked on vacation

Steen Nodwell, 29, had a damaged eye socket and skull, as well as a shattered cheekbone, internal traumas, and other ailments.

He was allegedly chased by a group of men while on holiday with friends and family in the coastal resort of Salou on Friday night.

Steen, from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, claims the gang assaulted him and then tossed him off a cliff after they caught up with him.

He is now stranded in a Spanish hospital in the adjacent city of Tarragon, according to his sister Bethan, and has had multiple procedures.

His Global Health Insurance Card will cover them, but he won’t be allowed to fly for almost a year owing to his injuries.

His family is trying to raise funds for ‘suitable travel with medical help’ as he faces a journey of almost 18 hours by automobile.

‘Steen is a tough and determined man, and this occurrence illustrates that,’ his sister Bethan writes on a GoFundMe page.

‘After violently beating my brother, a mob of local men hunted him down and hurled him down a cliff.’

‘It was only through sheer drive and courage that my brother was able to get up and walk for help despite his life-threatening injuries.’

‘Had he not done that, the conclusion could have been even more disastrous.’ These men tried to assassinate my brother, and now we need your assistance.

‘Steen has two broken arms, one of which is a compound fracture, as well as a broken jaw, a fractured eye socket and skull, a shattered cheekbone, and other internal injuries.’

Bethan adds her brother requires help and support from his family in addition to paying for appropriate transportation, which could mean ‘travel expenses are quickly going to rack up.’
