A terrifying TikTok video shows the primate in Mexico reaching out and snatching the child by the hair.

The child, who appears to be around twelve, is first seen beating the monkey’s cage as she teases it while clutching a cell phone.

It grabbed her hair twice in retaliation, making it clear that it was upset.

After the harrowing experience, the girl was lucky to escape with her scalp still intact.

The critter, according to viewers of the widely shared video, resembles a spider monkey, which is a native of Mexico and Brazil.

Visitors are advised not to touch the bars of the zoo’s animal cages.
