Hacking and security breaches are common on social media networks. Especially now, when hackers are looking for new ways to collect user information. TikTok has also been in the news for compromising data.
This time, “AgainstTheWest” was posted on a hacking site, revealing that TikTok and Wechat have numerous security flaws.
While several people with such information have admitted sensitive data leaks, TikTok has categorically refuted any accusations of hackers and has not had any of its users’ data or codes exposed through its forum.
AgainstTheWest, on the other hand, has provided screenshots of databases that truly belonged to WeChat and TikTok.
They revealed that the 790GB database has information on 2 billion people.
This leaked data includes user information, platform statistics, programme code, tokens, and other information.
On the other hand, the company is not overjoyed. In a tweet, the corporation refuted all of the accusations and stated that all of the hacking claims were false.
“This is an incorrect claim—our security team investigated this statement and determined that the code in question is completely unrelated to TikTok’s backend source code, which has never been merged with WeChat data.”
Following this, a security expert named Tory Hunt rushed to Twitter to claim that the accusation of hackers obtaining TikTok data is false.
He also stated that the data did not contain any sensitive information.
He went on to say that the majority of the data is essentially garbage because the corporation has already made it public.
He also thought that hackers had access to a database that, while it might not contain any significant information, indicated that TikTok still had security gaps.
