WhatsApp will be unavailable on some iPhone devices as of Oct 24
WhatsApp will no longer work on some iPhone models, and the Meta-owned firm has stated that iOS 12 or a later version is required for iPhone customers to continue using the service.
The messaging app will reportedly stop supporting iOS 10 and iOS 11 devices starting on October 24, according to media reports citing sources from WABetaInfo.
This means that the iPhone 5 and 5c models introduced by Apple in September 2012 will no longer be able to run WhatsApp.
However, iPhone users on newer models who have not yet updated to iOS 12 or later will also be temporarily affected.
Consider the case where your iPhone 5s or iPhone 6 is still running iOS 10, which was made available in September 2016. If you don’t update to the most recent iOS version for certain devices, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp.
According to some sources, WhatsApp has already begun notifying iPhone users running iOS 10 or iOS 11 of the program’s end of service.
You have till October 24th to resolve the WhatsApp-mandated iPhone upgrade. The app will continue to provide warnings, telling users that they may lose access in the fall.
Remember that new iPhones will be released in late September, and current iPhone models will be discounted at the same time.
