“I never expected to make this news. But I believe it’s vital that I’m transparent about my life with you,” the Utah native posted on Instagram on Tuesday, March 15. Tom and I are divorcing after 12 years of adventure. No resentment, no sides. We’ll always admire and appreciate each other.”

Schwartz said that “capturing 12 years of love in a f–king manufactured Instagram caption” was challenging. “Well this sucks,” he commented with many Maloney images. I didn’t suffer. No sad songs. Respect Katie’s choice and have great discussions about it. She staying with me while unhappy would be sadder.”

A second source said the former SUR staffers “ended their relationship peacefully,” although Maloney “truly wanted it to be finished.”
