Experts question authenticity of Meghan Markle podcast
Since August, Meghan Markel has continued to host her Archetypes podcast.
Through her podcast series, the Duchess of Sussex hopes to “dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back,” yet some royal observers have expressed conflicting opinions about the way she delivers the programme.
Ian Collins, a TV host, talked about the most recent episode of Meghan’s podcast, which had Jameela Jameel as a guest and focused on the criticisms activists must endure from women.
With a “peculiar British accent,” the duchess greeted Jameel at the beginning of the interview, according to Collins, who also highlighted how much the programme focused on “complaining.”
Collins remarked on Talk TV, “I just find that it has an underpinning, a curious sort of underpinning, to always belch out some kind of imagined injustice.”
Daisy McAndrew, a commentator, said she had listened to Meghan’s Spotify podcast and thought she sounded “scripted and unnatural.”
She gave her opinion, stating that it would improve the podcast if Meghan deviated from the script and spoke truthfully.
“I don’t always approve of Meghan,” said McAndrew. “She has annoyed me intensely in the past. But I understand where she’s coming from; I get it. I find her podcast sounds to me very scripted and quite unspontaneous.”
McAndrew further added, “I wish she would rip up the script. There are occasions where she goes off script, and she sounds much more genuine and authentic, which of course, is the whole point about a podcast. You’re meant to be talking from the heart.”
