Jackie Chan discusses ‘Rush Hour 4’ and the ‘huge success’ of the first film.
Jackie Chan teases a fourth Rush Hour film.
Chan, 68, said Thursday at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, “We’re talking about part 4.”
The actor, who starred with Chris Tucker in the first three Rush Hour movies, said he will meet with the film’s director that evening to discuss the script. He did not say who will helm the fourth episode.
Brett Ratner, who has helmed every movie in the franchise, hasn’t worked since 2014 after six women accused him of sexual misconduct, including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge. Ratner’s attorney Martin Singer fiercely denied the charges.) “He’s never been accused of sexual misbehavior or harassment. My client has never paid a lady a settlement “)
Chan said at the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday that he thought Rush Hour would bomb.
“I tried many times to go to Hollywood, but I said no more since my English is bad, they’re not my culture, and they don’t appreciate this kind of behavior,” he told Deadline.
Chan commented, “My manager gave me a script called Rush Hour.” “Hong Kong police? No way. He told Jackie, “Try again.” Okay, last time.”
1998’s Rush Hour generated $244 million worldwide, and Chan remembers a call from Tucker and Ratner about the film’s success.
“We’re awesome. First weekend: 70 million “Chan said the pair informed him.
“70 million? I don’t know. I’m not sure “Chan said. “I’m sure it’s successful. Parts 2 and 3 followed.”
Chan’s management called speculations concerning Rush Hour 4 “fake information” in April 2019.
“We have noticed that false information that Mr. Chan would act in Rush Hour 4 and The Karate Kid 2 is spreading through social media platforms, and that apparently infringing parties have misappropriated the personal WeChat and email accounts of Mr. Esmond Rend, a motion picture industry professional, to release false information about the hiring of the crew, casting, audition, and other matters related to the pictures.
“On behalf of Mr. Chan, we hereby declare that any and all such information, as circulated by such infringers, referring to Mr. Chan acting in Rush Hour 4 and The Karate Kid 2 is incorrect,” Chan’s management declared at the time.
