Emily Blunt clears the air about Cruise’s remark
Emily Blunt recently said that while they were filming Edge of tomorrow in 2014, co-star Tom advised her to “stop being such a p—-y.” Emily is now addressing the issue after her anecdote was “taken literally and absurdly out of context” by listeners, despite the fact that she considered the memory amusing.
The claim that it insulted me is absurd, Emily said in a statement to the news on December 12. “Not at all. I relayed the tale in a humorous manner that Tom intended.”
The Top Gun actor and the 39-year-old actress said they were good friends rather than having a toxic relationship.
“I absolutely adore Tom, he’s a dear friend and he was a total gem to me,” she said. “It was said as a joke to make me laugh, which it did in a big way. And it’s still something we laugh about to this day.”
What actually happened in Emily’s story, then? For the 2014 movie, she and Tom had to wear “enormous” outfits, as she stated in the Smart Men podcast episode from December 12; Emily wasn’t sure she could perform in them.
Emily recalled that Tom was helpless when she cried in front of him the first time she wore it.
Tom had quite a response when Emily approached him with her worries in order to make her feel better.
“I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and just started to cry,” Emily continued. “I was like, ‘I’m feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot,’ and he stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a p—y, OK?'”
I did chuckle, and then we got through it,” Emily recounted of her reaction at the moment.
