Despite her new royal status, Camilla continues to support organizations.
Queen Consort, 75, visited The Emmaus Community at Bobby Vincent House in south London on Tuesday to hear about its projects and proposals for women-only housing. Emmaus helps formerly homeless persons find housing, employment, and other opportunities.
Camilla has been a supporter of the organization since 2006, and she spoke about it during her trip. The Queen Consort said she aims to visit all 30 Emmaus hubs in the U.K.
“I’ve visited Emmaus 13 or 14 times. I keep trying, but they’re so popular, they’re opening everywhere. I can’t keep up “she tweeted
“Trying again I always get the same sensation after visiting one. Emmaus groups provide a sense of community and mutual care “Camilla said.
James Hayes, head of Emmaus SLC (which the Bobby Vincent House is part of), said Queen Camilla’s efforts to highlight homelessness were particularly appreciated given her royal stature.
Hayes remarked in another footage published by English on Twitter that Camilla’s new elevation hadn’t gone unnoticed. “We’re glad, appreciative, and delighted that you’ve joined us and our community so soon to remind yourself of the job we do… so I’d want to thank you for your support of us and the companions in our community.”
Queen Camilla spoke with companions, viewed the communal house and kitchen, and visited a secondhand store. The queen confessed she’s bought used furniture from charity stores.
“All these stores never allow me enough time to browse, but the furniture is very practical. I bought some wonderful things “The Independent reported.
The Queen Consort stated she’d create an all-communal women’s house if a place is found. Camilla’s public activity has focused on women’s issues since she married King Charles III in 2005. She ended her visit by enjoying tea and mince pies with friends.
