ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Murad Saeed has recorded his testimony before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe the killing of senior journalist Arshad Sharif,
The SJIT held its fourth meeting at the City Police Office (CPO) Headquarters in Islamabad.The statement of four persons were recorded in the meeting as part of the investigation.
PTI leader Murad Saeed also appeared before the JIT. He provided all information regarding the threats by Arshad Sharif. The special JIT will hold its fifth meeting tomorrow and will record the statements of other witnesses
The JIT has also decided to summon others including PTI leader Ali Zaidi and former federal minister Faisal Vawda in the probe.
A day earlier, the SJIT had a detailed briefing from the fact-finding committee formed by the government to investigate the high-profile case,
The SJIT has also drawn a list of witnesses other than Arshad Shari’s family to record their testimonies. The JIT was unable to meet with Arshad Sharif’s mother due to her ill health.
Meanwhile, the JIT is expected to fly to Nairobi in the next few days. The team has approached the Foreign Office and sought Kenyan visas and arrange meetings with Kenyan officials. The Foreign Office has instructed the Pakistani Embassy in Nairobi to make the arrangements.
The JIT will visit the crime scene where Arshad Sharif was murdered. It will also record the statements of the policemen involved in the firing, and Khurram and Waqar who hosted him.
Earlier this month. The federal government shared the names of the members of a new special joint investigation team (JIT) formed to probe the murder Arshad Sharif.
The team was formed on directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan which took notice of the murder and sought the registered of a case. The JIT will submit the report to the apex court.
