Melanie Martin, the on-again, off-again fiancée of late musician Aaron Carter, has reclaimed full custody of Prince, the 1-year-old baby they had together.
An attorney representing 30-year-old Martin told the news that the decision was reached following a court hearing on Thursday in Los Angeles. The Instagram model’s legal team informed her of the judgment even though she was in New York when the judgment was made.
Martin’s representative claims that she is on her way to California to pick up her kid and that she is “very delighted and excited” to meet him.
After the former couple lost custody, purportedly owing to worries about drug addiction and domestic violence, Prince was given to Martin’s mother.
Martin said to a source, “I’m commemorating Aaron today and I know he would be so proud of me. I’m feeling extremely sad because I realize we could have been a family, yet Aaron would be overjoyed if he knew he was returned.
Jane Carter, the mother of the former child star, expressed her satisfaction with the court’s decision to return custody of Prince to Martin.
“The child should be with the mother,” she said.
Jane stated to the news earlier this month that she does not yet know Prince, but she wants him to get his father’s whole estate. She claimed that Nick Carter, a member of the Backstreet Boys, and the rest of her renowned family “doesn’t need the money.”
After Aaron was sadly discovered dead in his bathtub on November 5 at the age of 34, Jane requested her daughter Angel, Aaron’s twin, to apply to be Aaron’s estate administrator.
The “I Want Candy” artist passed away without leaving a will, but according to California succession laws, his son would certainly receive his personal belongings and real estate portfolio, which is estimated to be worth roughly $500,000.
Martin, who was made to leave the California house she and Aaron shared, expressed her opinions on the subject last month.
Martin told Us Weekly, “I don’t want any issues or stress over Aaron’s estate,” adding that she didn’t “want any bad blood” with his family.
