Shah Rukh Khan calls Pathaan ‘patriotic’ amids boycott trends
Shah Rukh Khan, who is getting ready for the premiere of his new movie Pathaan, took some time to respond to Twitter questions from fans. He tweeted on Saturday evening, “Come all let’s do an #AskSRK for 15 minutes. Then work beckons.” His infrequent ask-me-anything session takes place in the midst of the continuing debate around his movie song, Besharam Rang.
Replying to the actor, a fan asked, “Why #AskSRK is always for 15minutes?” Shah Rukh responded saying, “Because everyone needs 15 minutes for fame…” “#Pathaan is also very patriotic..but in an action way,” he also added while replying another fan.
Someone else questioned Shah Rukh about why he no longer makes movies like Swades and Chak De! India. “Bana toh do kitni baar banaoon (We have made two such films, how many times should I do it)??” the 57-year old actor tweeted in his reply.
He was also asked to forecast Pathaan’s opening weekend box office performance. Shah Rukh said, “I am not in the business of predictions…I am in the business of entertaining you and to make u smile…” “Now my team calling me to work. Will talk with you all some other day. Those who missed out please don’t feel bad….abhi picture baaki hai. Thanks for the love & ur time. See u soon in a theatre now…#Pathaan,” he ended his chat on Twitter.
Siddharth Anand is the director of Shah Rukh’s Pathaan, which debuts on January 25 of the next year. Deepika Padukone and John Abraham are featured as well. After Besharam Rang, the movie’s opening song, was released, there was criticism around it.
Since some individuals objected to Deepika’s attire in the song, which included a saffron bikini, many have called for a boycott of the movie. Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and others are accused of “hurting religious emotions” of Hindus in Besharam Rang in a complaint plea submitted to a court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Friday.
