Turbulence hurts dozens on Hawaiian Airlines flight
At least 36 people were hurt, and 11 of them were hurt very badly, when a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Phoenix to Honolulu hit a lot of rough air.
Sunday, just before the plane carrying 278 passengers and 10 crew members came in to land, there was an accident.
Twenty people were taken to local hospitals with injuries that ranged from cuts and bruises to head injuries and loss of consciousness.
At the time of the turbulence, there were storms in the area.
Sunday at 10:50 PM (20:50 GMT), flight HA35 landed at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
Hawaiian Airlines said in a statement, “Medical care was given to several guests and crew members at the airport for minor injuries, and some were quickly taken to local hospitals for more care.”
17 passengers and 3 crew members were among the 20 people who were taken to the hospital.
Among them are a 14-month-old and a teen.
Before the Airbus A330 plane goes back into service, the airline said it would do a “thorough investigation.”
