Priyanka Chopra hosted a special screening for the Last Film Show

Priyanka Chopra is renowned for championing regional cinema and supporting Indian talent. The Gujarati film Last Film Show, formerly known as Chhello Show, which has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best International Feature Film category, recently had a screening and reception at her home. Days before the 95th Academy Awards’ final nominations are revealed later this month, she spoke extensively about the movie.

Attending the event, producer David Dubinsky posted several images and videos from the evening on Instagram. Priyanka was photographed attending the event with child actor Bhavin Rabari and director Pan Nalin while wearing a black dress and black boots.

Priyanka discussed the days of single-screen movie theatres in small towns and cities at the event, claiming that even her father would skip school to watch movies. She also inquired as to which movie Bhavin had seen prior to shooting the movie. She said that it is an excellent movie to see as he answered, “Dangal.”

David wrote that he shared the pictures, “With Priyanka Chopra, actress, model, and producer (wife of Nick Jonas) at the movie screening and reception of Last Film Show, a coming of age drama of a boy from a remote village in India who discovers the joys of the movie theater just as digital projection changes the game. It is India’s submission to the Academy Awards and was just shortlisted in Best International feature film category. Available on Netflix.”

Last Film Show, which was produced and directed by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Dheer Momaya, is India’s official Oscar submission. It tells the tale of a young child growing up and his relationship with movies in a Saurashtra village. It follows nine-year-old Samay (Bhavin Rabari), a film aficionado, as he conquers the heavens and the earth in search of his 35mm fantasies despite being unconscious of the tragic circumstances that lie ahead.

Several renowned film festivals throughout the world, including Tribeca and the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema, have nominated and screened the movie. Additionally, the Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles awarded it best film.
