Two arrested for acid attack on siblings in Karachi

KARACHI: Police arrested two suspects involved in an acid attack on two sisters and their brother in Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi.

The suspects were arrested in injured condition after a shootout near TCS School in Korangi. The accused were identified as Amir and Sohail.

The accused had thrown acid on the siblings yesterday. SSP Korangi Sajid Saduzai said weapons were recovered from arrested suspects.

Earlier today, a case has been registered against the accused Amir for injuring two girls in an acid attack in Korangi.

Police said the case was registered in Korangi Industrial Area on the complaint of the girl’s brother Waqar, who was also injured in the incident. Police said the provisions of acid attacks have included in the complaint.

In his statement, Waqas told police that his elder sister Rahila’s marriage proposal was discussed with Amir but was not finalized due to personal issues.

He said both his sisters work in a factory and he picks them up every day. He said their motorcycle ran out of fuel when his sisters started walking home.

He said motorcycle riders suddenly passed near his sisters and threw something at them. He said his sisters were injured by acid on their neck. He alleged that Amir threw acid on his sisters due to resentment.

The incident occurred in Bagh-e-Korangi near Saima Villas in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station when unnamed men hurled acid on two young sisters and their brother.

The accused threw acid on eighteen-year-old Saira and sixteen-year-old Saima. The girl’s brother Waqas was also injured in the acid attack.

The father of the victims stated that Amir sent a marriage proposal for one of his daughters which was rejected. He said Amir threw acid on his daughters in revenge.
