Andrea Pirlo, Former Juventus manager, expressed interest in managing Belgium after Roberto Martinez left the Dutch team.

The former Italy international has spent the last six months overseeing Fatih Karagümrük of the Turkish Super Lig after being fired from the Allianz Stadium in May of last year.

Despite only taking on his current position in the summer, the Italian has concentrated on the Red Devils, following Roberto Martinez’s resignation as Belgium coach after the FIFA World Cup 2022.

According to the Dutch news outlet HLN, Pirlo is one of the coaches interested in taking over as Belgium’s head coach from Martinez.

In light of the open position, Pirlo was one of the coaches who most recently sent the top administrators in Belgium a resume.

The board’s demands for their new coach, however, include things like being a serial winner and a tactical expert.

There are concerns that Pirlo is not a “serial winner” after his unsuccessful time with Juventus and a poor start to life in Turkey, where Fatih Karagümrük is currently ranked 10th in the league.

The top representatives of the Belgian Football Federation will meet on Friday to discuss the pool of candidates in preparation for naming their new coach by the end of the month.

The current assistant coach for Belgium, Thierry Henry, has also expressed interest in the position.

Henry joined the Red Devils in 2016, but soon left to pursue his own management ventures with Monaco and Montreal Impact. Following his failures there, he returned in 2021 as Belgium’s assistant.
