KARACHI: Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Hafiz Naeem has announced to protest against the announcement by the Sindh government – to postpone LG polls in Karachi and Hyderabad – outside the election commission office (ECP).
He while addressing a presser said that the local government had gone unreasonable with the people of Karachi and they have been irked by the decision.
Hafiz Naeem alleged that PPP is unable to face people in the polls because they know about their performance, therefore they are postponing the election at the request of MQM.
He announced that on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, a demonstration will be held outside the Election Commission office at 3 pm today, where they will announce the future plan of action.
Pertinently, the Sindh government in a late-night announcement postponed the LG polls in Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu and has taken the notification regarding the delimitations back.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said, “The ally – MQM – is important for us and we take them seriously, they have reservations over the delimitation so there will be no elections on January 15 in Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu.”
