For the first time in seven years, Leeds defeated Accrington Stanley 3-1 to advance to the FA Cup fifth round. On the same day, Leicester avoided an upset by defeating Walsall 1-0.

At the Wham Stadium, Jack Harrison’s breathtaking long-range goal calmed Leeds’ fears of pulling the unexpected against the League One team.

Despite having a tough time staying in the Premier League, Jesse Marsch’s team is starting to gel offensively with the addition of new player Georgino Rutter and the injured returns of Patrick Bamford and Luis Sinisterra.

Just after the hour mark, Bamford’s wonderful reverse pass set up Junior Firpo to increase the visitors’ lead.

After two minutes, Sinisterra scored on Harrison’s cross to break the stalemate.

However, Stanley had reason to celebrate when Leslie Adekoya, 18, scored a goal nine minutes from time.

League Two Walsall brought Leicester even closer, but FA Cup specialist Kelechi Iheanacho saved them.

Since making his tournament debut in 2016, the Nigerian has scored more goals than any other player.

23 minutes from time, Iheanacho’s shot from the edge of the box took a vicious deflection for the game’s lone goal, his 17th in 23 FA Cup games.

The first three teams to secure their spots in the cup’s round of 16 are Leeds and Leicester, along with Manchester City.

On Friday night, City defeated Arsenal 1-0 in a match between the top two teams in the Premier League.

Later on Saturday, when Tottenham travels to Preston, Harry Kane will have the opportunity to surpass all previous goal scorers.
